1. Purpose
Move Different works to support young people by helping them access appropriate services delivered by external organisations and professionals (“service providers”).
This Disclaimer Policy sets out the limits of Move Different’s responsibility in relation to those thirdparty services, while confirming our commitment to reasonable checks, safeguarding, and ethical partnership working.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- Young people engaging with Move Different services
- Parents, carers, and families
- Staff, volunteers, and trustees
- Partner organisations and external service providers
It covers all situations where Move Different:
- Signposts, refers, or introduces individuals to thirdparty services
- Facilitates access to external support
- Coordinates or supports referrals within a local ecosystem
3. Our Role
Move Different’s role is to:
- Listen to young people and understand their needs
- Help identify appropriate external services
- Support navigation and access to those services
- Encourage engagement and, where appropriate, follow up on progress
Move Different does not:
- Deliver specialist services unless explicitly stated
- Control or manage the daytoday delivery of thirdparty services
- Act as an agent, employer, or guarantor of service providers
4. Due Diligence and Checks
Move Different takes reasonable and proportionate steps to assess service providers before working with them. These may include, where appropriate:
- Reviewing publicly available information
- Checking relevant policies, accreditations, or registrations
- Assessing safeguarding alignment and values
- Establishing clear referral pathways or agreements
However, due to the nature of independent organisations and professionals, Move Different cannot guarantee:
- The quality, timeliness, or outcomes of services provided
- That a service provider will always meet individual expectations
- That a service provider will continue to operate or accept referrals
5. Limitation of Responsibility
While Move Different makes every reasonable effort to signpost to appropriate and reputable services:
- All services are provided solely by the external service provider
- Responsibility for service delivery rests entirely with that provider
- Move Different is not responsible or liable for:
- Acts, omissions, or decisions of service providers
- Failure of a provider to deliver a service
- Outcomes, delays, or dissatisfaction arising from thirdparty services
Engagement with any external service is undertaken at the individual’s discretion.
6. Safeguarding and Concerns
Nothing in this policy limits Move Different’s safeguarding responsibilities.
If concerns arise about:
- Safety, wellbeing, or safeguarding
- Professional conduct or suitability of a service provider
Move Different will:
- Take concerns seriously
- Act in line with its Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
- Review or suspend relationships where appropriate
7. Complaints
Complaints relating to the delivery of a thirdparty service should normally be raised directly with the service provider.
Where concerns are shared with Move Different, they will be:
- Logged appropriately
- Used to inform ongoing partnership decisions
- Considered as part of continuous improvement
8. Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if:
- There is a significant change to service delivery
- Legal or regulatory guidance changes
- Safeguarding or operational learning indicates a review is needed
